Although it is quite convenient to recover deleted photos using Recoverit camera recovery, picture loss will always be a torture for us. Therefore, how to avoid it gradually becomes an important issue for everyone using Canon digital cameras or any other electronic device.
- Photos backup is to have your important pictures copied and saved beyond your Canon EOS 7D camera so that your photos won't be permanently removed for good. Backing up photos regularly is one of the best ways to avoid photos lost from camera permanently.
- You cannot be too cautious when deleting redundant or duplicated photos from Canon EOS 7D camera. Canon digital camera contains many buttons and settings including 'Delete All' and 'Restore Factory Setting'. Please be cautious and verify what you will delete or click before the deletion of photos.
- Camera memory card stores all the pictures related to our good memories or business, so a reliable memory card is worth investing in. A durable memory card can help us keep data more securely and avoid accidents as possible as we could, while a low-quality one is prone to make our painstaking effort become nothing at all.
- Eject your digital camera or the memory card securely. In the case of memory card corruption causing photo loss, choose the safe ejection option when removing them from your computer. Besides, do not unplug them when transferring or editing your photos on the camera or connected devices.
- A memory card can't work with every computer or camera system. Randomly plugging it to different devices may lead to memory card damage. So it is better to keep using your memory card on the same camera or computer.
Conclusion
Photos lost from Canon EOS 7D can be averted if the loss or deletion results from improper operation such as mistaken deletion, memory card format error, ejecting memory card randomly, etc. Also, some methods listed above can help you minimize the risk. However, it can't be completely avoided since accidents like to come abruptly, like virus infection, camera physical damage and system crash. So it becomes vital and indispensable to know and have a reliable camera recovery program.

As other stated, use a card reader, much simpler and faster. Don't need 'em don't like 'em. Just use a card reader, Lightroom and Photoshop. That should round you out very well. PS: Congrats on the new Mac. LOG IN TO REPLY |

Go to their website for the update & carefully follow the instructions (I did this yesterday to get it to support the S90). Damian75Damian75 1,623 posts Likes: 4 Joined Dec 2006 Location: PA | There are several ways you can do it. If you launch Image Capture that is in the Applications/Utilities folder you can use it to import the images to anywhere on the computer you want if you would rather use iPhoto then while you have Image Capture open go to preferences and you will see a drop down menu that will let you select what happens when you connect your camera, you should see options like open iPhoto, Image Capture, do nothing. Just pick which one you want and the computer will do that. Canon EOS 40D,30D, Canon 70-200 2.8L, 24-70 2.8L, 85 1.8, Canon extension tube, Elinchrom Lighting gear, Website LOG IN TO REPLY |

I will get the card reader after I reply this thread. I hate the part where you can't see the folder on the Mac's finder. I did import using iPhoto and Lightroom, but somehow I didn't see the photos anywhere. Maybe I did something wrong. LOG IN TO REPLY |

CoolGuy5MillionCoolGuy5Million 1 post Joined Dec 2019 | The problem with 'get a card reader it's easier,' is that some of us have a card reader that just crapped out and we're looking for a solution NOW while the client has turned away for a moment. Fortunately, there is a solution that doesn't require external software, a card reader, or losing your gig. Connect your 7D to your computer via USB, turn it on, then open up Image Capture (native Mac software). You'll see your files listed and can drag them to their destination. Hope that helps.
